Something Here Doesn’t Quite Belong

It grew so slowly and quietly. Siggy’s doubts and failures feeding it, no matter how few or far between. By the time that SiggyAnn realized what was happening, it was too late.

Well it wasn’t.

Siggy didn’t know that. She thought there was no going back. Sometimes when she blinked in the bright sun this dark pit would appear and it did not seem to have an end.

When this first began Siggy just thought she was over tired and her eyes were playing tricks on her. Then sometimes she would catch glimpses out of the corner of her eye. Shadows moving where there should be none.

This pit flashing across her line of vision. she could hear the whispers of failed pregnancies and the loss of the opportunity to appreciate a version of herself that she once thought wasn’t good enough. Then it was gone.

Then she was fine. She was with Domhnall and he loved her as she was. He could be a little rough around the edges, he didn’t aleays understand. But he understood her.

That kept the pit away for a time.

Not as long as she would have liked.

Not long before it reared its ugly head in the misadventures of SiggyAnn
